Suryakumar Yadav reacts after being named India’s T20I vice-captain. Yadav scored 1164 runs in 31 T20I appearances in 2022, finishing the year as the world’s top T20I hitter.

Suryakumar Yadav, the world No. 1, spoke up about becoming India’s T20 vice-captain for the home series against Sri Lanka. In a first, the prolific batter’s consistency reward when the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) revealed the T20I and ODI squads on Tuesday. Suryakumar Yadav is the most run-getter in T20I in 2022.

The Mumbai native has been in top form, setting the record for the most runs scored in the shortest format in a calendar year (2022). The daring batsman scored 1164 runs in 31 T20I appearances in 2022, with a strike rate of 187.43. Suryakumar also has two century and nine half-centuries to his name, finishing 2022 as the world’s top ranked T20I hitter.

“It still feels like a nightmare. To be recognize and refer to as the world’s best T20 hitter. I’m not sure how I would have responded if someone had informed me a year ago. “When I first start playing this format, I want to be the greatest, and I work hard to achieve that,” the vice-captain explained.

Yadav will try to build on his recent success in the T20 series against the Islanders.
