After losing by nine wickets with 24 balls remaining and eight wickets with 25 balls remaining across their final two group games, it was a big shock to see Colombo Stars dominate Galle Gladiators and progress to this match with a seven wicket win in the Eliminator.
Chasing 109 from 18 overs to beat the Gladiators on Wednesday, the Stars fell to 44-3, but 43 not out from Ravi Bopara and 20 not out from skipper Angelo Mathews got them home with seven balls left. The Stars will be relying upon that experienced pair as well as Dinesh Chandimal and Charith Asalanka to make big scores in this game.
It was an exceptional bowling performance from Colombo Stars in the Eliminator and the team management will be hoping they can produce something similar in this knockout game as well. Benny Howell took 3-17 but it is Kasun Rajitha who will have the most self-belief ahead of this match after taking 2-9 from four overs.
Colombo Stars had lost two successive games heavily before their comfortable win over Galle Gladiators.
The match will be played at the R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. Any score over 135 will be competitive on this pitch which is starting to show some inconsistent bounce towards the end of the tournament.
