The BCCI requests selectors form a pool of players for the competition. The inaugural edition of the Women’s IPL 2023 is schedule to take place in March and April of next year, prior to the start of the Men’s IPL. The five-team tournament is expect to operate on an auction model. Rather than the draft system used in the Women’s Big Bash League. The BCCI has now asked selectors to prepare a pool of Women’s players available, which will include both Indians and overseas players.

The last Women’s T20 challenge included just three teams, but BCCI managed to run it well. The same cannot be state for the Women’s IPL event. Meanwhile, Cricbuzz reports that the BCCI requests has given the go-ahead to draft. The tender for the franchise sale and media rights, adding that preparations are already underway. The BCCI recently established the basic price for each franchise at INR 400 crore, with the hope that bidding will exceed INR 1000 crore.

“The winning club will pay the ownership fees to the BCCI in equal installments over a five-year period and continue to hold the property in perpetuity, as in the men’s IPL,” a source added.

Men’s IPL owners invited at the BCCI Women’s Auction.

Meanwhile, the BCCI has invited the current owners of men’s IPL teams to participate in the bidding, and any investor who meets the board’s minimum eligibility criteria is welcome to participate in the tender process. The IPL franchise owners have already invested in the CSA’s T20 League and the ILT20 leagues, and they will be given priority over new investors.
