On Sunday, the Indian women’s cricket team faced Australia in a nail-biting final match at the Commonwealth Games 2022. As soon as Yastika fell, her teammates in the dugout began laughing, including Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma, and Jemimah Rodrigues. For a brief moment, everyone in the Indian dugout forgot about the tense chase against Australia and focused on the present.

Yastika Bhatia, who was not named to India’s final playing XI, was called in as a concussion replacement for Taniya Bhatia in the summit clash. This occurred after Bhatia was hit on the head while keeping the wickets in the first innings.

Concerning the match, India captain Harmanpreet Kaur played a valiant knock of 65 runs off 43 balls, but it was in vain as Australia won the inaugural Commonwealth Games cricket gold medal by nine runs.

Beth Mooney’s 61 off 41 balls and Meg Lanning’s 36 off 26 balls had earlier led Australia to 161 for 8 in 20 overs. Renuka Singh and Sneh Rana each had two wickets for India.

India were bowled out for 152 runs in 19.3 overs in response. With figures of 3 for 16, Ashleigh Gardner was Australia’s top bowler. Megan Schutt, on the other hand, had returned 2 for 27.
