Chris Jordan recalls’relentless’ racial abuse following England’s exit from the T20 World Cup 2021. ‘There were a lot of comments on my photos and in my direct messages,’ Jordan added.

Chris Jordan, a veteran England pacer, recalled the “relentless” racial abuse he received on social media after England lost in the semifinals of the T20 World Cup 2021. On November 10, 2021, they were defeated by New Zealand by five wickets in Abu Dhabi. Jordan stated that there were numerous racist comments on social media posts and direct messages.

The English fast bowler explained that it was because people thought he played a significant role in England’s defeat. He went on to say that the England team is as diverse as they come, and he credited former captains Joe Root and Eoin Morgan. He also mentioned making some lifelong friends in the locker room.

“Things didn’t go our way six months ago in the World Cup semi-final,” Jordan was quoted as saying by mirror.co.uk. “Social media was relentless for me; there were many (racist) comments on my pictures and in my direct messages because we had lost a World Cup game.” People believed I played a significant role in this.”

Real change will come from within, through honest dialogue: Chris Jordan

“From my perspective, the England team is as diverse as it gets right now.” “I know I’ve made some very good, lifelong friends in that changing room,” England’s fast bowler said. “That’s a credit to people like Eoin Morgan and Joe Root, because our changing room is one of the most diverse in the world.”

“Real change will come from within, through real conversations, because some people are simply unaware; it’s about continuing education,” the 33-year-old added. England batted first in the semifinal game and scored 166, led by an unbeaten 51 from all-rounder Moeen Ali.

Devon Conway scored 46 runs off 38 balls during New Zealand’s chase, and James Neesham scored 27 runs off 11 balls late in the innings. However, it was opener Daryl Mitchell’s unbeaten 72 runs off 47 balls that got them over the line. Jordan had a difficult game, conceding 31 runs in three overs without picking up a wicket.
