Kemar Roach has a huge influence on all young pacers: Phil Simmons. In the second innings of the second game against Bangladesh, Kemar Roach claimed his 250th Test scalp.

Kemar Roach, a senior West Indies pacer, took his 250th Test wicket in the recently concluded second game against Bangladesh at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in Gros Islet, St Lucia. The Windies went on to win the match convincingly by 10 wickets, completing the series 2-0 and adding some valuable ICC World Test Championship points to their tally.

West Indies head coach Phil Simmons praised Roach’s achievement, saying that he is guiding the fast bowlers through his experience and allowing them to mature quickly. Simultaneously, Simmons has stated that the senior speedster has been successful in influencing all of the young fast bowlers. Kemar Roach has been with the West Indies squad since 2008.

“(Roach) is assisting fast bowlers in maturing faster. I believe he has a tremendous influence on all of the young fast bowlers. He takes his responsibilities as the senior pro very seriously. It is visible on the field. You can see him talking to them, who are always trying to do the right thing. “I think his influence has been huge on these young fast bowlers,” Phil Simmons told Cricbuzz.

Kemar Roach finished with 10 scalps in two matches played on slow wickets. While he went wicketless in the first innings, Roach picked up three wickets in the crucial second innings, ensuring that the Windies only needed 13 runs to win the Test match and sweep the series.

Kemar Roach’s 250th Test wicket also surpassed the legendary Michael Holding, who took 249 wickets in the longest format in 60 matches between 1975 and 1987. Roach accomplished this feat in the second innings when he had veteran Bangladesh batter Tamim Iqbal caught behind by Joshua Da Silva.
