Ramnaresh Sarwan resigns as a West Indies selector due to personal reasons. Sarwan has only been a selector for five months.
Former West Indies captain Ramnaresh Sarwan has resigned as a selector for the men’s senior and junior teams, citing personal reasons. His term was supposed to last until 2024, but Sarwan only lasted five months before making an abrupt decision on Monday (May 30).
Robert Haynes has temporarily replaced Sarwan until Cricket West Indies (CWI) finds a new candidate for the vacant position. Haynes, who was a leg spinner during his playing career, is also a member of the junior panel. The current senior men’s team selection panel is led by Desmond Haynes. Head coach Phil Simmons is also on it.
CWI Director of Cricket Jimmy Adams disappointed that Ramnaresh Sarwan could not continue as a selector, but he understood why. He also thanked the individual for his contributions to West Indian cricket during this time period.
