Former West Indies Captain Daren Sammy on Receiving ‘Sitara-I-Pakistan’ Sammy shared a photo of himself receiving the medal on Instagram, along with a lengthy message thanking Pakistan’s government and people.

Daren Sammy, the former West Indies captain who led the Caribbean team to two T20 World Cup titles. Took to social media on Monday to share a proud moment when he awarded the civil award of ‘Sitara-I-Pakistan’ for his efforts in reviving international cricket in the Asian country. Sammy shared a photo of himself receiving the medal on Instagram, along with a lengthy message thanking Pakistan’s government and people.

“Cricket took me all over the world, allowing me to see and play in some incredible locations. Pakistan is unquestionably one of these places. A place where I always feel at ease. It is a great honor to have received this prestigious award (Sitara-I-Pakistan) from the Pakistani government and people. Thank you very much “Sammy penned a letter.

Daren Sammy on Receiving ‘Sitara-I-Pakistan’

He has also participated in the Pakistan Super League as a player and now as a coach.

Sammy won the ICC World Twenty20 Championship with West Indies in 2012 and 2016. He was appointed captain at a time when West Indies cricket was in free fall. His cool and collected demeanor assisted the team in resuming its winning ways in bilateral and ICC tournaments.

Sammy, an all-rounder who could bowl useful medium pace and swing his bat effectively down the order, represented West Indies in 38 Tests, 126 ODIs, and 68 T20Is.

He has played T20 franchise cricket for teams all over the world, including stints in the Indian Premier League.
