While many other bowlers in the franchise league have taken more wickets than Kumar, his economy – 7.20 – is very impressive. On Tuesday, while playing for SunRisers Hyderabad against Mumbai Indians, the veteran pacer bowled a wicket-maiden in the 19th over, with MI needing 19 runs off the final two overs. Thus, Kumar’s performance was critical in SRH’s three-run victory over five-time champions MI.

I say this because, if he can just focus and work harder on his fitness, his experience and ability in all formats of the game are incredible. The SRH, led by Kane Williamson, currently have 12 points from 13 games. In the final league match of the IPL 2022, they will face Punjab Kings (12 points in 13 matches). Both teams have been eliminated from the playoff race. So far, only Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants, the league’s two new franchises, have secured their place in the play-offs.
