Shoaib Akhtar on Umran Malik: “I’ll be happy if he breaks my record.” Shoaib Akhtar stated that Umran Malik should break his record for the fastest delivery (161.3 kmph)

Umran Malik of SunRisers Hyderabad has impressed the cricketing world with his pace during the current season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Umran has consistently clocked speeds in excess of 150kmph and has crossed the 157 kmph barrier. Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar said ahead of SRH’s game against Kolkata Knight Riders that he wants Umran to break his record for the fastest delivery (161.3 kmph), adding that Umran must avoid injuries.

“I want him to have a long career. Someone congratulate me a few days ago because it has been 20 years since I bowl the fastest delivery and no one has been able to break the record. But I told myself, ‘There has to be someone who can break this record.’ If Umran breaks my record, I’ll be overjoy. But he must take care not to injure himself in the process. I want to see him play for a long time without getting hurt “During an interaction on Sportskeeda, Akhtar stated.

Akhtar, the first player in history to break the 100-mile barrier, wants Umran to play for India as well, claiming that the pacer belongs on the international stage.

“I want to see him on the international stage because he belongs there. There aren’t many people who can reach 150 kph right now. Umran has shown a consistent ability to bowl at that pace. I want Umran to have that 100-mph thought in the back of his mind. I’ll be pleased if he joins the 100-mph club. However, he must avoid injuries that could jeopardize his career “He continued.

Umran returned three for 33 in the game against KKR, bringing his season total to 18 wickets.

However, it was not enough as KKR won by 54 runs.
