On Sunday (April 24), Lucknow Super Giants defeated Mumbai Indians by a score of 36 runs. Their eighth defeat in a row. Chasing 169 at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, Rohit Sharma’s men never look like they were in the hunt and eventually fell short by a large margin. Meanwhile, the game featured some amusing banter between Kieron Pollard and Krunal Pandya.

The pair, who share the MI dressing room from 2016 to 2021, are now rivals after LSG acquired Krunal’s services in the 2022 mega auction. In the game, the two old friends faced off against each other, and Krunal emerged victorious. The left-arm spinner dismissed Pollard in the final over of the game, putting an end to the story.

I was so grateful after Kieron Pollard was fired: Krunal Pandya

After dismissing the former West Indies captain, the senior Pandya jumped on his back and planted a kiss on his head. While Pollard paid little attention to his old friend’s antics, fans were entertained as the video quickly went viral. Krunal opened up about his banter with Pollard following the game’s conclusion.

“I was so grateful that I got his (Pollard’s) wicket because otherwise he would have eaten my brain throughout my life because he got me out and now that it’s 1-1, at least he will speak less,” Krunal said after the game. Meanwhile, the spinner took three wickets in the game and allowed only 19 runs in his four overs.

Krunal commented on his outstanding performance, saying, “Honesty is important in the team, and these guys (coaching staff) are doing pretty well and ensuring everyone is getting better.” Process is important to me, and we want to accept and learn from our mistakes.”

Meanwhile, LSG has now won five of their first eight games, putting them on track to make the playoffs. MI, on the other hand, are all but out of contention for the IPL 2022 playoffs after losing eight consecutive games.
