2ND ODI: Shaheen Afridi hits a “Bullseye” and dismiss Aaron Finch on a first-ball duck. With Pakistan aiming to level the series after Australia won the first ODI. Shaheen Afridi dismissed Australia skipper Aaron Finch for a first-ball duck.
Shaheen Afridi, who chose to bowl, gave Pakistan a dream start against Australia in the ongoing second ODI at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. With Pakistan looking to tie the series after Australia won the first ODI, Shaheen dismissed Australia captain Aaron Finch for a first-ball duck. Shaheen was most likely attempting a yorker, but it turn out to be a full toss around the middle and leg. Despite this, he was able to get some movement on the ball as Finch completely missed his flick. As a result, the ball struck Finch’s front foot, prompting the umpire to raise his finger.
The PCB posted a video of Aaron Finch dismissal on their official Twitter account.
Shaheen, who missed the first ODI, had also dismissed Finch for a first-ball duck in last year’s T20 semi-final.
Moreover, Australia leads the three-match series 1-0, having won the first ODI by 88 runs at the same venue.
After being put in to bat, Australia posted a total of 313 for seven thanks to Travis Head’s 72-ball 101 and cameos from Ben McDermott (52) and Cameron Green (40 not out).
For Pakistan, Haris Rauf and Zahid Mahmood took two wickets each.
In response, Pakistan recovered from Fakhar Zaman’s early dismissal, as skipper Babar Azam and Imam-ul-Haq added 96 runs for the second wicket.
Imam scored a brilliant 103, and Babar added a fifty.
Pakistan, on the other hand, failed to capitalise and were eventually bowled out for 225.
Adam Zampa was the standout bowler for Australia, taking four wickets.
Pakistan will also attempt to level the series in the third and final ODI on Saturday.
