IPL 2022: Ravi Shastri Highlights LSG “Tactical Error” Against GT. Lucknow Super Giants’ IPL journey did not start well after they were defeated by fellow debutants in an IPL 2022 match on Tuesday.
Lucknow Super Giants’ Indian Premier League campaign got off to a shaky start on Monday when they were defeated by fellow debutants in an IPL 2022 match at Wankhede Stadium. After being put in to bat, Lucknow found themselves in a lot of trouble, having been reduced to 29 for four. Deepak Hooda and young Ayush Badoni, on the other hand, brought them back from the dead and helped the team post a fighting total. However, their bowling, like their top order, faltered in places as the Gujarat Titans chased down the target with five wickets in hand and two balls to spare.
Former India coach Ravi Shastri told ESPNcricinfo that Lucknow’s “tactical error” during Gujarat’s chase proved to be their undoing in the match.

Gujarat Titans were 91 for four after 15 overs, with a lot to do in the final five overs. Deepak Hooda and Ravi Bishnoi’s 16th and 17th overs, however, tipped the scales in the Titans’ favor.
Hooda was run out for 22 runs, while Bishnoi was run out for 17.
“(Rahul) Tewatia’s timing to begin hitting was excellent — he did so during (Deepak) Hooda’s over. He scored 22 runs in his over. I believe the game has shifted there. Lucknow made a tactical error. Shastri was also effusive in his praise for Gujarat Titans captain Hardik Pandya, who made his IPL debut.
“I give Hardik full marks. The entire country was on the lookout. He bowled four overs and did not get a wicket, but bowling four overs is significant. If he can bowl four overs in every game, his game and confidence will be doubled.
“He had a lot of personality. When two early wickets fell, he came in to bat at No.4. He took responsibility for himself, which is a very good sign for Gujarat as a captain going forward. Gujarat’s top-scorer, Rahul Tewatia, finished unbeaten on 40 off 24 balls, while Abhinav Manohar Sadarangani made a crucial 7-ball 15 cameo to help the Titans get off to a good start.
