‘We are excited for him to lead,’ says Virat Kohli of Faf du Plessis’ selection as RCB captain.He took over for Virat Kohli, who led the franchise for nine seasons from 2013 to 2021 before relinquishing captaincy at the end of last season. Meanwhile, Kohli has revealed the reason for RCB’s decision to let Faf lead from the front.
Further clarifying, the batting superstar stated that the veteran South African batter is someone who commands a lot of respect in the dressing room as a leader, according to him and the franchise. He also stated that they were very clear about this when they hired Du Plessis at the two-day mega auction in Bengaluru last month.

“The plan was very clear: get Faf at the auctions for us. In the locker room, we need a strong leader who commands a lot of respect. “Commands, not demands, because he’s been there and done that. Kohli said in a video posted by the RCB’s Twitter account.
“He’s a Test captain, which comes with a lot of accolades. We’re excited for him to lead the RCB.” He’ll do an excellent job. “All of us, myself, Maxi (Glenn Maxwell), Dinesh Karthik, and I think all the guys will enjoy this tournament,” he added.
