The Asian Cricket Council announced on Saturday that the Asia Cup will be held later this year, between August 27 and September 11. The tournament will be play in T20 format, with qualifiers beginning on August 20. Qualifiers for the same will begin on August 20, 2022 “According to an official statement issued by the ACC.

The Asia Cup 2022 in Sri Lanka
The Asia Cup happened every two years, but the 2020 edition was postpone due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Since the tournament’s inception in 1984. India has won seven of the fourteen editions, including the most recent two (1984, 1988, 1990/91, 1995, 2010, 2016, and 2018).
In the previous edition of the tournament. Team India was led by Rohit Sharma and defeated Bangladesh in the final in Dubai.
The upcoming edition of the Asia Cup will be only the second occasion when the tournament will be played in the T20 format.
In 2016, the tournament was also play in T20 format, with India defeating Bangladesh in the final in Dhaka.
Meanwhile, Indian players are preparing for the upcoming Indian Premier League season (IPL).
IPL 2022 kicks off on Saturday, March 26, with defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) taking on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the opening match.
