The England women’s cricket team finally opened their account in their fourth match of the competition, played at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui, after defeating India Women by four wickets. Despite a winless streak in the ongoing Women’s World Cup, the Heather Knight-led side started well and troubled the Indian batters from the start.

England bundled out India for 134 runs in 36.2 overs thanks to excellent lines, lengths, and wickets at critical internals of the game. In response, England got off to a shaky start, with openers Tammy Beaumont and Danielle Wyatt both departing for one run. However, a brave fifty from Knight and cameos from the middle-order players helped England reach the target in 31.2 overs with four wickets left.
