Albie Morkel has been appoint as Bangladesh’s power-hitting coach. This is the first time that a power-hitting coach has been appointed by the Bangladesh team.

Former South African all-rounder Albie Morkel has been name as Bangladesh’s power-hitting coach for their upcoming tour of South Africa. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chairman Jalal Yunus confirmed the news.

Morkel, according to Yunus, is an experienced cricketer who can assist the Bangladesh batters as a coach. Morkel is said to have begun his stint as well. Allan Donald, a Protean pace bowling legend, was appoint as the pace bowling coach of the Bangladesh cricket team a few weeks ago, and Morkel will now join his fellow South African in the Bangladesh coaching setup.

Bangladesh has lacked power hitters.

“He is a very experienced campaigner, and we believe that his coaching will benefit our batters,” Yunus told Cricbuzz. The Bangladesh cricket team has appointed Albie Morkel as a power-hitting coach due to the team’s poor performance in the limited-overs format. Furthermore, this is the first time that a power-hitting coach has been appointed by the Bangladesh team.

Albie Morkel brings a wealth of experience to the table. The 40-year-old has played in 58 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and 50 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) for South Africa. In his international career, the right-arm medium pacer took 77 wickets. Aside from that, the South African has extensive experience playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Morkel has played 91 IPL matches and scored nearly 1000 runs at a frightening strike rate of 141.98. In T20 cricket, he has taken a total of 85 wickets. Aside from Morkel, the Bangladesh cricket team has also appointed Jamie Siddons as the team’s batting coach.\

Bangladesh’s next appearance on the field will be against South Africa in a three-match One-Day International series beginning on March 18, 2022.
