Sunil Gavaskar praises Bhuvneshwar Kumar for overcoming adversity. Gavaskar said of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, “He has worked harder, he has looked at his bowling. And he is trying to get better with every passing day.”

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, India’s pacer, has had a difficult few months. As he worked hard to rediscover his rhythm with the ball in hand. He was once one of the best pacers in the Indian team, but injuries have hampered his career in recent years. While Kumar only took two wickets in the recent T20I series against the West Indies, he bowled a match-winning penultimate over in the second game, conceding only four runs and dismissing the dangerous Nicholas Pooran to help India win the match.

Meanwhile, Sunil Gavaskar, batting legend, has stated that Bhuvneshwar Kumar is a strong contender for a spot in India’s squad for this year’s ICC T20 World Cup in Australia. Further clarifying, he stated that the 32-year-old has worked hard to overcome his rough patch.

Sunil Gavaskar: Bhuvneshwar Kumar makes another point

“He’s making a point once more. Yes, in South Africa, he had a fairly ordinary series. But he’s done well since his return. Look at the competition once more; no one can take his spot for granted. “He has been a senior bowler for so long that the moment he slip a little bit and questions were ask about him, he pick himself up.” Gavaskar said to Star Sports.

“Also He hasn’t gone into a shell, thinking, ‘Oh, what’s going to happen?'” He has worked harder, examined his bowling, and is striving to improve with each passing day. That is what is important. He isn’t resting on his laurels. He’s saying that with the extra speed and bounce that I’ll get in Australia, he’ll be in the mix.” He added.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar has recently impressed with his impactful bowling performances, but he will have to fight hard for a spot in the Indian squad for this year’s showpiece event in Australia. While Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami expect to be the first-choice pace bowlers, bowling all-rounders Deepak Chahar and Shardul Thakur are also in the mix, with the addition of new white-ball sensation Mohammed Siraj making the competition even more intense.
