Chennai Super Kings signed Rajvardhan Hangargekar in the IPL mega auction.

Hangargekar was purchase by CSK for Rs 1.5 crore at the IPL 2022 mega auction after a successful U19 World Cup campaign in which he played six matches and took five wickets. Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has also stated that Hangargekar will be the main focus of the auction, rather than his other U19 teammates Yash Dhull and Raj Bawa.

Hangargekar, who was born in Tuljapur, a small town in Maharashtra’s Marathwada district, switched from off-spin to fast bowling before being named to Maharashtra’s Under-16 squad for the Vijay Merchant Trophy. By early 2018, the right-arm bowler had developed the appearance of a fast bowler, easily clocking around 130 km/h.

The young pacer’s career was progressing well, having represented Maharashtra in the senior category as well. With this age-defying allegation, however, some dark clouds are now looming above his head. With such reports in place, it is highly unlikely that he will be able to continue his IPL outing, in which he was roped in by four-time champions Chennai Super Kings.
