On Friday, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare announced 6,650 new COVID-19 cases in India. The total number of cases in the country now stands at 3,47,72,626. The number of active cases in India is presently 77,516.
Covid LIVE Updates: In the last 24 hours, the government has reported. 374 more Covid-related deaths, bringing the total death toll to 4,79,133.
According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, active cases make up fewer than 1% of all cases, with the current figure of 0.22 percent being the lowest since March of last year.
According to the Union Health Ministry, the number of cases of Covid’s fast-spreading strain Omicron in India has surpassed 200, with 358 cases currently in the country.
Maharashtra had the highest number of cases of the new strain, with 88. It is followed by Delhi, which has 64 cases, Telangana, which has 24, Rajasthan, which has 21, Karnataka, which has 19, Kerala, which has 15, and Gujarat, which has 14.
According to the Centre, the Omicron form is at least three times more transmissible than the Delta, and it has asked states and union territories to “activate” war rooms, analyze even minor trends and surges, and take immediate containment action.
