Mohammad Rizwan has signed a contract with Sussex for the County Championship and T20 Blast.
In the third T20I, Pakistan defeated West Indies to complete a clean sweep of the former world champions. Mohammad Rizwan became the only player in T20 history to score over 2000 runs in a calendar year during this game.
Rizwan is currently the most exciting cricket prospect in the world. And he has signed a deal with Sussex for the 2017 season. It’ll be his first time playing for a county team. He’ll be joining the team in early April and will participate in both the T20 Blast and County Cricket.
“I’d always heard good things about the Sussex community, and this family club has always been important to my heart.” Rizwan told Cricbuzz.
Sussex coach Ian Salisbury congratulated Rizwan on his T20 and Test cricket achievements.
“Mohammad’s first-class and Test records speak for themselves. Also welcoming him to Sussex for a significant portion of next season’s Championship is a major coup.” Salisbury said.

After his request, Sussex released former captain Ben Brown, who had two years left on his contract. In 2021, the 33-year-old wicketkeeper played 12 county games and scored 976 runs at a 51.36 average.
Brown was replaced as Sussex captain by Tom Haines in the middle of the season. This surprised him because he had spent his whole cricket career at Sussex. He was also selected by Sussex, when he was 12 years old and spent 22 years with the county. However, Brown made 10,843 runs in 318 games for Sussex across all formats.
“As this chapter of my career comes to a conclusion, I’d want to express my heartfelt gratitude to Sussex for the opportunity I’ve been given over my 22-year connection with the club,” Brown said after Sussex confirmed his departure.
“Ben has been a fixture in Sussex for nearly two decades and has a track record to be proud of. With the bat, the gloves, and his captaincy, he has always given his all.” Rob Andrew, Sussex’s Chief Executive, stated.
