Prime Minister will visit. Yogi Pradesh today to announce major projects ahead of the state elections next year, this time in. Gorakhpur, one of the state’s most important cities and the hometown of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
The Prime Minister will attend the reopening ceremony of. Gorakhpur‘s fertiliser industry, which has been closed for nearly three decades. PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone for a. 300-bed AIIMS facility as well as a regional medical research center with a virus research and testing lab.
The government claims that the three projects will cost a total of 10,000 crores, and the Prime Minister‘s visit has been advertised on the front pages of all media.
With the state election coming up early next year. Purvanchal, or eastern Uttar Pradesh, is a vital territory for the BJP. In the 2017 elections, the BJP gained a majority of the region’s 150 or so seats, but this time, Akhilesh Yadav of the Samajwadi Party, the BJP’s primary adversary, came in second. Mr Yadav has put together a rainbow coalition that includes numerous eastern UP friends, notably Om Prakash Rajbhar of the Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party, who ran as a BJP ally in the 2017 elections.
The Prime Minister will speak at a gathering in Gorakhpur, a quasi-political event similar to those held during his previous visits to Uttar Pradesh, the most recent of which included the inauguration of the Purvanchal Expressway in Sultanpur and the laying of the foundation stone for the Noida international airport.
