India vs. New Zealand: Anil Kumble Reacts to Ajaz Patel Joining the “Perfect 10” Club

Following New Zealand’s heroics in the Mumbai Test. Anil Kumble complimented Ajaz Patel and “welcomed” him into the “perfect 10” club.

Anil Kumble, the former India captain and coach. Welcomed Ajaz Patel to an exclusive club of players who have taken 10 wickets in a Test innings. Kumble praised Ajaz’s 10-wicket haul in the first innings of the second Test against India, during which the Mumbai-born spinner tormented the Indian batting line-up.

Ajaz joins India’s Anil Kumble and England’s Jim Laker as the only players to take all ten wickets in a Test innings.

Kumble wrote a touching statement in which he commended Ajaz’s “extraordinary effort.”

In the 2nd Test against Pak in Delhi in 1999. Kumble took all ten wickets in a single innings.

At the 1956 fourth Ashes Test in Manchester. Laker became the first bowler in Test cricket history to achieve the feat.

Laker was left with 19 wickets after taking nine in the first innings of the same Test against Australia.

On Day 2, Ajaz picked up where he left off on Day 1. He got off to a flying start in the opening session, adding to his overnight tally of four wickets with consistent breakthroughs.

Despite Mayank Agarwal’s stunning 150, Ajaz shone at the other end, grabbing wickets. Ajaz came into his own after Axar Patel left for a half-century, and he started a collapse, with Mohammed Siraj as his tenth victim.
