The deadline for naming the players retained by the eight existing Indian Premier League (IPL.) Franchises ahead of the blockbuster auction of IPL 2022 approaches.

The teams have till November 30 to release their list of retained players. And NDTV has gathered from sources that most of the teams have almost finalized their selections.

MS Dhoni (CSK), Rohit Sharma (MI), Rishabh Pant (DC), and Kane Williamson (SRH). Are among the major players who are likely to be retained by their respective franchises.

NDTV has previously reported that former skipper Virat Kohli and Glenn Maxwell are likely to stay with Royal Challengers Bangalore, while Sanju Samson is expected to stay with Rajasthan Royals.

There has been speculation that MS Dhoni would ask CSK to send him to the auction pool in order to get a bigger payday. But sources have told NDTV that the talismanic captain, who has led the ‘Yellow Brigade’ to four IPL titles. Will be retained, along with star opener Ruturaj Gaikwad and ace all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja.

The franchise is still debating whether or not to keep Moeen Ali or Faf du Plessis as their overseas player.

IPL Auction

According to sources, the Mumbai Indians are expected to keep captain Rohit Sharma. Elite paceman Jasprit Bumrah, and wicket-keeper batter Ishan Kishan. While talks with Windies great Kieron Pollard are ongoing.

The Delhi Capitals are expected to keep skipper Rishabh Pant and bowler Axar Patel for the IPL 2021 season. The franchise is still debating between Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje as a foreign paceman.

According to sources. SRH may choose Rashid Khan alongside skipper Williamson.

KL Rahul appears to be on his way out, with Punjab Kings hoping to keep teenage spinner Ravi Bishnoi, paceman Arshdeep Singh, and hard-hitting batsman Shahrukh Khan.

According to the report, the two new franchises, Lucknow and Ahmedabad. Will be able to select three players before the auction. Two Indians and one international player would make up these two squads.
