New Delhi: The Congress and the BJP have again again clashed over the procurement of Rafale combat planes. According to the Hindustan Times, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) administration of irregularities in the attempted purchase of aircraft in 2012.

How does the deal differ in both the regimes?
The Congress: The Indian Ministry of Defence chose French manufacturer Dassault (Dassault or Dassault) to buy 126 Rafale fighter aircraft in 2012, during the UPA government. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. MMRCA, or Medium Multi Role Combat Aircraft Deal, was the name of the deal at the time.
This deal was started in the year 2007.
When it first began in. 2007, the deal was believed to be valued. Rs 40 thousand crores. However, by 2014, the transaction had grown to almost 80 thousand crores. The UPA government never sealed the agreement because the corporation kept raising the price.
The UPA government, on the other hand, had never made the total cost of the agreement publicly available.
After Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s NDA government took office in 2014, the MMRCA project was canceled. PM Modi confirmed the purchase of 36 Rafale fighter jets directly through an inter-governmental deal with the French government during his April 2015 visit to France. Following the Inter-Governmental Agreement, both countries’ defense ministers signed the deal in September 2016.
