Bhai Dooj 2021 Significance And History

According to Hindu literature, the puranic characters associated with Bhai Dooj are siblings Yamuna and Yama.

The God of Death was unable to see his sister for a long time due to his obsession with the critical mission at hand.

Yama once paid Yamuna a surprise visit and bestowed a boon on her. Yamuna then urged him to refrain from taking the lives of his brothers on that particular day.

Hindus believe that anyone who bathe in the Yamuna river will receive Yama’s blessings.
