Pakistan beat Namibia by 45 runs in a Super 12 game of the ICC T20 World Cup in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, with captain Babar Azam scoring 70 and opening partner Mohammed Rizwan smashing an unbeaten 79.
Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam, Rizwan clobbered eight fours and four maximums in 50 balls, while Babar blasted seven fours in 48 balls. Pakistan secured their berth in the semi-finals with this victory.
As Pakistan surged in the back end to record 189 for 2 against Namibia, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan produced yet another century-plus opening stand.
Namibia could only muster 144 for 5 runs in 20 overs in response. Namibia’s hitters showed amazing tenacity in the face of Pakistan‘s powerful bowling attack.
Criag Williams (40 off 37b; 5×4, 1×6), Stephan Baard (29 off 29b; 1×4, 1×6), and David Wiese (43 off 31b; 3×4, 2×6) all scored runs for Namibia.
Hasan Ali (1/22), Imad Wasim (1/13), Shadab Khan (1/35), and Haris Rauf (1/25) each took one wicket for Pakistan.
Captain Babar had earlier taken the early lead with a stunning 49-ball 70 as he took the initiative. Rizwan, on the other hand, struggled to get started at first.
