Shoaib Akhtar blasts Pakistan just stormed out of a TV broadcast and resigned from his job as a cricket analyst after host Dr. Nauman Niaz urged him to leave the set during a T20 World Cup post-match show this week.
A former fast bowler turned cricket analyst, has slammed a Pakistani television station for pulling him off the air after a verbal confrontation with host Dr. Nauman Niaz during a live show this week.
Shoaib Akhtar blasts Pakistan, After being told to leave the set by the host of the broadcast at state-owned PTV while reviewing Pakistan‘s victory over New Zealand at the T20 World Cup, Akhtar walked out and resigned from his job as a cricket analyst.
On Thursday night, PTV tweeted that it has “decided to pull both Nauman Niaz and Shoaib Akhtar off-air till the investigation into the spat between the two is completed.”
The announcement perplexed Akhtar, who claimed to have already resigned from the show.
“That’s quite amusing. In front of 220 million Pakistanis and billions throughout the world, I resigned. Is PTV insane or something? Who are they to take me off the air?” PTV’s tweet drew a response from Akhtar.
The host of the show, according to Akhtar, treated him horribly and ridiculed him on air. On PTV Sports’ ‘Game on Hai,’ Akhtar thanked the Pakistan Super League’s Lahore Qalandars squad with discovering Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf during the match.
