Brad Hogg: Former Australian weirdo Brad Hogg beat the India team selection for the opening match of the T20 World Cup against Pakistan.
Virat Kohliled’s team lost the marquee for 10 wickets in Dubai on Sunday and Hogg named an Indian player whose selection he thought was “a big mistake” to have a difference from his playing XI.
Pandya’s place on the team has been a hot topic of discussion for some time. Since the news emerged that he would no longer be bowling, numerous experts and cricketers have called for his replacement. However, Kohli reiterated Pandya’s importance with the bat on the eve of the game.
“I think it was a big mistake playing Hardik Pandya,” quipped Hogg.
Unfortunately, the Baroda off-roader failed to achieve a noticeable effect for Kohli and Co. with the bat; he scored 11 of 8 balls.
A short time later, he was taken to hospital for examination after he was hit on the shoulder while beating him.
Brad Hogg said that he could have gotten along with Shardul Thakur instead of Shami and played Ravichandran Ashwin instead of Hardik.

“The only other way I would have gone is Thakur in place of probably Shami and Ashwin for Pandya. In that case, you can have Jadeja batting in at 6, Thakur at 7, and Ashwin at 8. Pandya has got to be bowling if he wants to be in the playing XI. He has got a lot of talent, but he is just not a frontline batter,” he added.
Meanwhile, former Pakistan captain Salman Butt knocked down another Indian player, Varun Chakravarthy, calling him ineffective against a rampant team.
