Pite van Biljon added 86 with Patrick Kruger, as Knights won the final by seven runs against Dolphins

Pite van Biljon added 86 with Patrick Kruger: Bryce Parsons and Jason Smith fought late for the Dolphins before finally failing.

Patrick Krugers 61 and the practical contributions of Rilee Rossouw, Pite van Biljon and Farhaan Behardien justified the Knights’ title win against the Dolphins in the final at Kimberley.

The Knights landed at 176, though they had started calmly after moving to 2 at the end of power play 37.

At this point, Kruger and van Biljon added 86 for the third wicket in less than nine overs, with van Biljon breaking 42 of 25 balls, including three fours and six each. Behardien’s finishing touch got the Knights rolling before Migael Pretorius and Alfred Mothoa hit the ball early.

Although Sarel Erwee and Khaya Zondo were in 51 spots to take a quick break, the Dolphins ended up staying at 63 for the final five overs.

Semi-final 1: Dolphins beat Titans by four wickets

Ottniel Baartman put the Dolphins in the driver’s seat by taking over two wickets in his second, which along with early shots from Ruan de Swart and Odirile Modimokoane Titans went after seven overs at 38 of 4.

Gihahn Cloete’s 62 and the contributions of Ferreira and Corbin Bosch, who scored 26 and 21 points respectively, brought the Titans to a reasonable sum. Baartman finished 4 of 18 while the Titans were booed by 138. The Dolphins were in trouble at 33 of 2, but Erwees 33 stopped them before Zondo took control.

He took them 40 runs in the last five overs and 18 in the last two. Zondo scored 15 of the 16 runs that survived the penultimate to clinch the victory without a doubt and were undefeated with 58 of 45 balls.

Semi-final 2: Knights vs North West: No result

North West will be heartbroken that they failed to reach the semifinals after the Knights were 127 of 7 and are on track to chase the goal.

They were 42 unbeaten in the third round when the rain swept through the game. As a result, the Knights advanced at a higher net execution rate even though North West was in control of the game.

Eldred Hawken took 3 of 37 and Senuran Muthusamy took 2 of 12, as only two of the knight-strikers, Pite van Biljon and Gerald Coetzee, scored more than 15 and their normally strong lineups stuttered.

North West starters Wesley Marshall and Eben Botha hit seven fours and six on the 15 balls they faced, but heavy rain at Kimberley carried the Knights to the final.

Quarter-final 2: Knights beat Western Province by four runs

Rossouw continued his remarkable career in competition, becoming the season’s highest run-scorer for a century in his two-fifties when he led the Knights to 223-for-3 against Western Province. He shared a 130-run association in the third wicket with Behardien, a tier that scored just 64 balls, with Behardien scoring 57.

None of Cape’s attacks conceded an over in fewer than nine runs. Western Province was 105 of 5 in the 12th inning, but captain Wayne Parnell had other ideas.

He broke a remarkable 29ball 80 with a hit rate of 275.66 and held them until the final in the hunt, which ran in 195 for 7. In the end, Migael Pretorius took 24 runs from the last over, including a No ball Six, but Western Province was still four runs behind.

Quarter-final 3: Dolphins beat Warriors by six wickets

Daryn Dupavillon had the Warriors in the third race at 8-for-3 before Diego Rosier and Sinethemba Qeshile went 42 to save the color of their lineup. Dupavillon finished 4 of 18, while the Warriors finished 127 of 9.

When they had the Dolphins at 33 or 4 after seven overs, it seemed like the Warriors had had enough; but Keegan Petersen built diligently before Jason Smith took it upon himself to see the Dolphins on the other side of the line. It took 34 runs off the last five overs, and Smith scored 20 of them to be undefeated with 60 of 41 balls to end the four-ball chase.

Quarter-final 4: North West beat Boland by three runs

The best quarterfinals were canceled at the end when North West beat Boland in a three-race thriller. North West’s innings got off to a shaky start when they dropped to 45-for-4 in the seventh before Eben Both and Lesego Senokwane bet 59 for fifth to take them over 100.

Duan Jansen’s 21ball 27 helped Boland to set a target of 158, which they should have easily achieved after Malan’s brothers Janneman and Pieter had a starting position of 108 in less than 13 overs. But then they collapsed and lost 6 of 44 on the next 41 balls: two to Jansen and Caleb Seleka, one to Lwandiswa Zuma, and one to a runout. Boland took four of the last ball, but Janneman could only find one.
