Richie Berrington: T20 World Cup 2021: Richie Berrington caught a brilliant one-handed to fire Simon Atai in Scotland’s win over Papua New Guinea.

Richie Berrington was in top form when Scotland beat Papua New Guinea by 17 runs in Group B Round 1 of the current 2021 T20 World Cup at Al Amerat Cricket Ground on Tuesday.

The 34-year-old broke 70 of 49 balls and received a jaw-dropping catch in the Papua New Guinea chase.

In the final installment of the sixth overs, Josh Davey sent a full ball to batter Simon Atai.

Atai tried to make an overwhelming breakthrough but landed towards the point where Berrington made a brilliant one-handed catch.

ICC shared the highlights on their social media identifiers and captioned them as:

First, Scotland won the toss and opted for the racket. Berrington‘s daring punch helped his side post 165 for nine in 20 overs.

Matthew Cross also made a notable contribution with a 45-run hit on 36 balls.

Kabua Morea took four wickets for Papua New Guinea in four overs but conceded 31 runs.

Chasing a goal of 166, Papua New Guinea was thrown for 148 in 19.3 overs, with Josh Davey taking four wickets in 3.3 overs. Davey only conceded 18 runs.

Norman Vanua played a solid shot for his team, recording 47 of 37 balls.

With the victory, Scotland now lead Group B, while Papua New Guinea was eliminated with one game in the group.
