In second place in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Delhi Capitals (DC) lost 3 wickets to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Previously, Delhi was defeated in the first classification by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

This shattered Delhi’s dream of winning its first IPL title. Now the question arises how the Delhi team, which got off to a great start at IPL 2021, finally stalled in the finals. How did Rishabh Pant, who led the team throughout the tournament, miss the last two matches? We are going to explore

Delhi defeated Chennai in their first game of IPL season 14 with 7 wickets, indicating to other teams not to underestimate them. The Delhi topped the points table by winning 10 of 14 league games.
Aggressive bowling like Avesh Khan, Anrich Nortje, and Kagiso Rabada and hitters like Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, and Stoinis helped the team reach the playoffs with ease.

Rishabh Pant was given the command of the DC team due to Shreyas Iyer’s injury. Pant not only set a good example of his captaincy in the IPL but people saw him as the “future captain of the Indian team” and the veterans praised his leadership skills.

Delhi Capitals played almost every league match fearlessly and was one of the main contenders for the 2021 IPL title.

Under Rishabh Pant, Delhi Capitals faced CSK in the first qualifier of the 2021 IPL. In the playoffs from the IPL, Delhi Capitals lost in an exciting fight against the Chennai Super Kings.

Batting first, Delhi scored 172 runs to lose 5 wickets. Chennai lost 6 wickets in pursuit of a rigid goal and won the match in the final standings thanks to former MS Dhoni.

Pant’s Judgement Errors

DC Skipper wasted four balls during the gay finale of the DC innings. On the last ball of the 19 overs, he refused to take a single in order to hit the next over. Pant attempted to hit the first three balls of the 20 overs.

But was unable to push anything and also did not attempt to run while Tom Curran was on the other end, aka the big hitter. Even if a few more four-ball runs were made, the outcome of the game could have been different.

During the second bowling alley, Pant put Tom Curran in charge of finishing the bowling alley. With dhoni in the crease and one on the left, Specialist Kagiso Rabada could be trusted to die, as he had one on the left.

This was a shocking decision for fans as the ball was passed to a less experienced player, even after such an experienced bowler.

What Went Wrong In IPL 2021 Qualifier 2

In the second qualifier, Delhi got off to a great start against KKR. But the middle order disappeared. Except for Dhawan and Iyer, no one could get more than 20.

Delhi Capitals bowlers were unable to take wickets early in the second inning. Bowling returned in the final, but it was too late. Surprisingly, Delhi bowlers took 2 wickets more than 10 times during power play in all 2021 IPL games.

Under Rishabh’s captaincy, it was a brilliant journey for Delhi Capitals. When the team was fired, Rishabh Pant seemed unable to handle the pressures of the big games. These last two encounters showed a lack of experience on his part and a difficult lesson to assimilate.
