David Warner on Sunrisers Hyderabad: ‘Bitter pill to swallow but I don’t think I will ever get answers’

David Warner: David Warner would love to stay at Sunrisers Hyderabad for the next season, but admits that may not happen after being benched for the last five games of the 2021 IPL. He insists, however, that his fans will have plenty to look forward to in the “long time I have left”.

The Sunrisers removed Warner from the captaincy in the middle of the tournament, shortly before the India stage came to a halt due to Covid19. They replaced him with Kane Williamson, who first assumed the captaincy in 2018 when Warner was serving a one-year suspension for his role in the Newlands ball handling episode.

During the return leg of the 2021 IPL in the United Arab Emirates, Warner only played in two of the Sunrisers’ seven games before falling out entirely.
