Match 50 DC vs CSK – Match Report: Things got to the point, but the Delhi Capitals (DC) managed to keep their nerve and beat the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) with three wickets in Game 50 of the 2021 LIVE Indian Premier League (IPL) in Dubai on Monday. Shimron Hetmyer hit a good 28 * under pressure as DC climbed to the top of the points table with their 10th win of the season.
Previously, Prithvi Shaw played some attractive shots in pursuit of 137 before Deepak Chahar hit it in the third round, giving CSK the first breakthrough. Shikhar Dhawan responded, however, when he was chasing Chahar in the fifth round and saw two fours and even six. But CSK responded in the power play final when Josh Hazlewood fired Shreyas Iyer.
Rookies Ripal Patel and Dhawan then took DC over 90 before Jadeja took out Ripal. Shardul then threw a double-wicket over 15th place, ruling out R Ashwin and Dhawan as CSK reduced DC to 99/6.
However, Shimron Hetmyer and Axar Patel kept DC on the lookout and established a groundbreaking 36-race position. While CSK kept things tight, a knockdown catch at 18 meant over that Hetmyer got. Although Axar Patel was eliminated in the final over, DC crossed the finish line with two balls to go.
CSK, who was used to hitting, made three changes to his team with Deepak Chahar, Dwayne Bravo, and Robin Uthappa. Replacing K M Asif, Sam Curran, and Suresh Raina on the team. DC, however, brought in newcomer Ripal Patel in place of Steve Smith.
On the eventful first lap, in which Ruturaj Gaikwad saw a strong call from DRS. A mixed quartet, solid coverage, and 16 runs were achieved.
However, DC didn’t have to wait too long to kick off CSK’s first wicket. As Axar captured Patel du Plessis in the third round. Two overs later, Anrich Nortje took out Ruturaj Gaikwad.
The Rishabh Pantled unit continued when Axar and R. Ashwin defeated Moeen Ali and Uthappa, respectively, to reduce CSK to 62/4. CSK needed a partnership to rebuild the innings, and the duo of Ambati Rayudu and captain MS Dhoni did just that. The pair took the game deep and helped CSK break the 100-run mark in the 17th round.
The two completed a 50-race season when Rayudu was at 18. Rayudu added a four and a six to his tally in the penultimate race. And brought half a century before the CSK 136/5 hit the board.
