“I would give a lot of credit to Rana; he was playing second fiddle to Shubman. He realized that there was no point matching him shot for shot. Nitish took his time and then hit a couple of big hits. Fingers crossed for the next game,” Karthik said.

“I thought it was a real good game of cricket. At half time I knew it would be a tricky chase because the pitch was difficult. I was practicing a lot when I was doing commentary. It was just one of those days where I got lucky. This is not a game where you take the game deep. You create opportunities by using the crease and you play your shots,” he added.

It took KKR 116 to win in the 20 overs, but SRH’s pitchers kept Eoin Morganled‘s team fighting for the win. SRH fought hard to win, but the goal was always too small. In the end, Captain Morgan and Dinesh Karthik made sure KKR didn’t hiccup as the team chased after the goal with two balls to go.

Speaking to the announcers on the Postmatch show, Karthik praised the way Rana took his time and anchored the tickets, even after Gill lost his wicket.
