Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are an establishment cricket group representing the city of Kolkata within the Indian Premier League. The establishment is possessed by Bollywood performing artist Shah Rukh Khan, on-screen character Juhi Chawla and her life partner Jay Mehta. The Knight Riders play at the famous Eden Gardens Stadium.
They became the 2012 IPL Champions by defeating the Chennai Super Kings in the final. They repeated the feat in 2014, defeating Kings XI Punjab. The Knight Riders hold the record for the longest winning streak by an Indian team in T20.
The greatest race scorer of all time is Gautam Gambhir. While his main wicketaker is Sunil Narine. The official team is Korbo, Lorbo, Jeetbo Re (we will perform, fight and win!) And the official colors are purple and gold. The Knight Riders brand value was estimated at $ 104 million in 2018, the second-highest among IPL franchises.
Both teams play in major markets like the Indians in Mumbai and the Knight Riders in Kolkata. The Mumbai Indians are the most successful IPL franchise with five championships, but by the third championship in Mumbai, both teams were tied with two championships. In the first two seasons of the IPL, Mumbai swept Kolkata in all four games.
It wasn’t until the 2010 IPL season that Kolkata won against Mumbai. Both teams were once led by Indian cricket legends (Mumbai was led by Sachin Tendulkar and Kolkata was led by Sourav Ganguly). This rivalry has often worked in Mumbai favor as they have won 22 games compared to Kolkata’s 7 wins, but they are known throughout the league as an exciting showdown. They both played each other twice in the playoffs.
