Bubble fatigues forces PBKS Chris Gayle to leave IPL– Chris Gayle has only played two games for the side since the IPL resumed, and he now wants to rest up for the T20 World Cup, which begins next month.
The West Indian arrived in Dubai through another bio-bubble made for the CPL, and his time in a safe environment has taken its toll on him, as it has on many other foreign players during COVID times.
“I’d prefer to take a break in Dubai and refocus on assisting the West Indies in the T20 World Cup. Thank you to the PBKS for allowing me to take this time off. My thoughts and prayers are always with the team. “All the best for the upcoming games.”
The team, according to head coach Anil Kumble, supports his choice.
PBKS Chris Gayle to leave IPL
“I’ve played against Chris and coached him at Punjab Kings, and he’s always been an absolute professional throughout the years I’ve known him, and we as a team respect his decision and desire to prepare for the T20 World Cup,” Kumble said.
“Chris is a legend who has altered the game of T20 cricket, and we stand by his decision,” said CEO Satish Menon. He is a valued member of the Punjab Kings family, and his absence will be felt.
Chris Gayle is expected to stay in Dubai before joining the West Indies’ T20 World Cup squad.
