Shane Warne slams R Ashwin: Former Australian cricketer Shane Warne opened the discussion between KKR captain Eoin Morgan and Delhi Capitals spinner Ravichandran Ashwin during their IPL match on Tuesday, saying the latter’s act on the field was disgraceful.
Morgan, the KKR skipper, also admitted that given the nature of the competition and hot weather conditions, there can be a boil at times. Although Morgan didn’t bring much to the racket on a personal level, he was happy to see his team advance with a win.
“The world shouldn’t be divided on this topic and Ashwin,” he tweeted. “It’s pretty simple – it’s disgraceful and should never happen. Why does Ashwin have to be that guy again? I think (Eoin Morgan) had every right to nail him,” Warner tweeted.
In particular, Ashwin and Morgan had a heated discussion. During the KKR vs DC game at the 2021 IPL on Tuesday. The trouble started when Ashwin attempted to steal an extra barrel. After Rahul Tripathi‘s shot from the KKR garden bounced off the DC Captain’s body. KKR skipper Eoin Morgan felt like he wasn’t in “Spirit of the Game” and had reserved a word or two for Ashwin when he got off a Tim Southee installment.
An angry Ashwin leaving the field stopped and was seen charging towards the KKR patron when Karthik intervened and patted his state colleague in Tamil Nadu to tell him to leave.
“Both sides played the game hard. On a hot day, things can boil over. Thankfully it didn’t. We all played in the right spirit,” Morgan said.
“And its a tough contest against Delhi Capitals. Full credit has to go to our coach Brendon McCullum. Its his ethos, his mindset, and the boys have bought into that,” he added.
