Moeen had already informed captain J.Root and head coach C.Silverwood of his decision.

The 34-year-old Moeen Ali has already scored 2,914 runs in 64 Tests at an average of 28.29 with 5 centuries and picked up 195 wickets with his off-spin bowling at an average of 36.66.

Ali trusts that his Test career will motivate and open the door for other British Muslims to play for England.

He is currently within the UAE, playing for CSK in the IPL2021.

Moeen will continue playing white-ball for England, county cricket for Worcestershire and domestic Twenty20 tournaments.

Ali remains a part of England’s plans for the up and coming T20 World Cup in the UAE and Oman.

Moeen is only the 15th player in Test history to score 3,000 runs and claim 200 wickets when the 5th Test against India was cancelled.
