Sheffield: They have a largely settled squad although someone will need to fill the shoes of Brendan Doggett. The loss of Brendan Doggett to South Australia was the most important change in the squadron and could see that they need to immerse themselves in a younger player, especially with Billy Stanlake, sideways, and Michael Neser, who probably lose one or two games for the birth of your child. Nathan McSweeney also traded to the Redbacks. All-rounder James Bazley received the first full contract from him.

Sheffield: Three wins in their first four games on either side of the BBL put them on their way to the final. Where they beat New South Wales by one inning. The victories were undoubtedly hard-won with Mitchell Swepson’s best career form. Against Tasmania and South Australia, while two great centuries of Joe Burns and Khawaja secured a win from behind in their second match against Tasmania.
Swepson’s 32 wickets were the standout achievement and fueled his claim to taste the honors as the Quicks share in his success. They were strengthened by the fact that Marnus Labuschagne was available for all games, as he racked up 821 runs. In the Marsh Cup, they had to miss a double bonus point victory against South Australia by one run and were then heavily beaten in the final game of the regular season against New South Wales.
